Finding the Time

I am often asked when I find the time to write by people who know me well.

I’ll give you a peek in if you don’t know me well, but would like to: I have a full time job as a technician and MA for a doctor’s office, I’m going back to school to be an NP, I have 2 beautiful little girls to take care of, a wonderful husband, a garden, a girl puppy named LeeLoo, a boy kitty named Asimov, I’m the lead singer for Gravity Giving In, I’m a published poet and an author.

Want to know my dirty little secret?

One word: prioritize.

Life isn’t perfect. I don’t give each aspect of my life equal amounts of attention–that’s impossible. I do manage my time well, make goals and carry them out.

Writing is a stress reliever for me. It’s a priority. So, when I have free time, I write. If it wasn’t a priority, I wouldn’t do it.

So, there you have it. If you have something you want to do, make it a priority and get it done. Don’t tell yourself if (insert circumstance) happens then you’ll write/edit/publish–it’ll never happen.

Yours,

–Lizi
